I hope everyone has enjoyed this first week of February, and what a gorgeous Spring Week (?) this was.

We have a lot of students involved in many ways (I am sure this is not all but these are a few):

At CCES Luke Cody was the winner at the 2016 Spelling Bee with Zy Johnson taking 2nd place and CaDarrius Willis getting 3rd.  Our Middle School winner is Kyra O’Bryant.  Congrats to these students

According to the Basketball Schedule I have, tonight is the last regular season game for our Eagles.  They will be in Barnesville to face the Trojans tonight with J.V. Games beginning at 4:30.  Region tournaments began next week.  Keep an ear out for dates and times. Spring Sports are beginning to get kicked off.  CCHS also has 3 wrestlers going to sectionals, Isaiah McDaniel, Chase McCarty, and Mathew Barajas.

Our administrators will begin the foundation for our Systems’ Strategic Plan next week as we began creating a true vision, mission and belief.  The excitement around this process is growing and I look forward upcoming months.

I want to give everyone a somewhat updated list of legislation that is being dropped or at least talked about in this year’s session.  The list is available by clicking here. This list is provided by Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL) and is also available on their website.  This is an overview and if you want to delve into the details of each you can search them at GSBA Capitol Watch by typing the number in the “Direct Link to Bill” section on that page.

At the time of publicising this blog SB 328 was not available on the GAEL Site; however, I linked to it below:

SB 328 Dealing with Alternative School limits, and is just an FYI right now.

The legislators have been fairly quiet on the educational front this year.  We can be very thankful for 2016 being an election year.

I hope everyone has a good weekend, and If you get a chance come to the Farm Bureau Livestock show on Saturday.
